Plot summary

In a remote Moldovan village, a camera crew arrives to check on the progress of Becky Westlake, an American who has been fixing up a rundown house as a haven for her art. Kate Banks, Greg, Alex and newcomer Sarah make up the team, and they meet Vladimir Filat, a local businessman. While gathering footage of the town, Greg and Sarah slip into a funeral and start recording; a ringing cellphone gives them away, and the locals turn angry until a police officer steps in and orders the crew to leave. Filming over the following days brings interruptions and suspicion, and an old woman lets herself into Sarah's room to chant a prayer over her. Vladimir tells them how a plague once led the village to burn a woman it accused of witchcraft.
