Dimitri Diatchenko

Biography

Dimitri Diatchenko was an American actor who began classical guitar lessons at seven and later studied both acting and music at Florida State University. After a small role in Ridley Scott's 1997 action film G.I. Jane, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. He appeared in television series such as Alias and in films including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and Get Smart. His role as a Ukrainian tour guide in Chernobyl Diaries (2012) drew positive reviews from some film critics. Diatchenko also worked as a voice actor, lending his voice to many video and computer games, starting with work on Medal of Honor: European Assault in 2005, for which he provided additional voices. He released four solo guitar CDs and won medals in guitar competitions and full contact fighting. He died in 2020.

Diatchenko was cast in Ridley Scott's 1997 action film G.I. Jane in April 1996, while he was graduating, and landed a small role as a trainee.
Own stunts
Diatchenko held black belts in both Kenpo Karate and Tae Kwon Do. As a heavyweight in the early 1990s, he entered several national championships and took medals in full contact fighting.
Early training
Diatchenko studied at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he was a scholarship music student. He focused on classical guitar and earned a Bachelor of Music degree.

Diatchenko started taking classical guitar lessons when he was seven years old. Two years later, he performed his first solo classical guitar recital.
Beyond film
While studying and afterward, Diatchenko earned medals in guitar competitions, among them the Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition and the World Championships of Performing Arts. He put out four solo guitar CDs.

Diatchenko provided additional voices for the video game Medal of Honor: European Assault in 2005, which was his first performance in a video game.
