Plot summary
In the final fifteen years of his life, Orson Welles stakes his Hollywood comeback hopes on The Other Side of the Wind. He returns to the United States in the early 1970s to shoot it, and filming begins in 1970. The picture he is making is the story of a veteran movie director who wants to complete one last film, a resemblance to Welles's own position in the industry that he said was not deliberate. The documentary follows that production and the problems he met in finishing and releasing the work, which stayed unseen for years.
