Plot summary
Dr. Curtis Temple is recovering from an automobile accident, with a silver plate in his skull, when a V-shaped formation of meteorites comes down in Cornwall. His physician forbids him to join the scientists appointed to investigate, so the mission goes to Lee Mason. The rocks at the site are pointy and blue, and the aliens inside them are pure energy. When a geologist chisels off a piece, a flash and a screech follow and the scientists are taken over. The only word from Lee is a string of requisitions for millions of pounds of equipment, weapons included. Curtis drives to Cornwall, where armed guards, a 10,000-volt electric fence and Lee herself bar him from entering. A disease the press calls the Crimson Plague breaks out, and the authorities find a secret way to dispose of the victims.
