Plot summary
Barbara is asked by her sister Caroline to serve as bridesmaid at Caroline's wedding to Sir Ralph Skelton. Barbara instead seduces Ralph and takes Caroline's place as his wife, becoming Lady Skelton. Her new position brings her wealth, and she finds the life dull. To escape the boredom she takes to the roads as a robber, holding up travelers for the excitement it gives her.
