Plot summary
A fresh start takes Emma and Noah to Los Angeles, where they buy a house in which the last tenant died. Neighbors Jeanne and her son Mikey live nearby, and across the street Reggie and Amanda become friends of the couple. Letters arrive from a figure signing as the Raven, ordering Emma and Noah out of the house, and Emma also begins to see things that are not there. Wendell Akimoto, the house's earlier owner, turns up inside and speaks threateningly to her, so Emma switches on the alarm system and tells the police what has been happening. She barely sleeps as the letters keep coming.
