Plot summary
Robert and Emily are divorced. Their daughter Jenny has announced that she is engaged, and the news brings the two of them together for dinner. Over the meal they talk about the marriage they once had and take stock of their life and their relationship. Robert is a musician. Their conversation is the film's main substance, and reviewers have likened the result to Louis Malle's My Dinner with Andre and to Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, films that also rest on talk more than on plot.
