Plot summary

The Thursday Murder Club gathers each week at Coopers Chase, where Elizabeth Best, Ron Ritchie and Ibrahim Arif work through cold cases together. Their current project is the unsolved killing of Angela Hughes in 1973, a case once handled by Penny Gray, a club member now in the village hospice. Joyce, a retired nurse, moves in and adds her medical knowledge to the group. Donna De Freitas, a police constable posted to the area from London, calls at the village, finds her own work tedious, and is drawn into the club's investigations. Plans to turn Coopers Chase into luxury flats divide its owners, Ian Ventham and Tony Curran, who tells residents he will stop the sale. Tony is then killed at his home, his house searched and the weapon gone, and the club takes up the case.
