Plot summary
A time machine that the young scientist Schuyler Davis builds with the help of his friends Larry, Moe and Curly Joe carries them, along with Schuyler's girlfriend Diane Quigley, back to Ithaca in ancient Greece, in the reign of the tyrannical King Odius. Their arrival coincides with the imprisonment of Ulysses, so the newcomers are mistaken for gods. The lecherous king takes an interest in Diane, and Schuyler and the Stooges are banished to the galleys, where they are set to rowing. Diane remains with Odius, and the past has been thrown off its course by their coming.

- Larry Fine was knocked unconscious and hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center when 300-pound Joe DeRita lost his grip and fell on top of him during a scene aboard a parked chariot. Doctors diagnosed him with Type 2 diabetes during that hospital stay, and he controlled it by resisting sugar for the rest of his life.
- Director Edward Bernds was so worried the older Stooges would have a heart attack in the middle of a scene that when they had to run up a flight of stairs, he cut to something and jumped to them at the top of the stairs.
- Joe DeRita was temperamental and disliked being hurt, so Moe Howard took pains to make sure he was not hurt the way Larry Fine or Shemp Howard had been, and doubles were used for DeRita more often than for Shemp or Curly.
