Plot summary
Once the top of her profession, Margaret Elliot is now broke and cannot accept her reduced circumstances. She is confident that she can bring her career back to its earlier brilliance. After another disappointment while striving for one good role, she gets drunk, is arrested for driving under the influence, and spends a night in jail. Jim Johannsen, a younger former actor whom she once helped, bails her out. He owns a boatyard now and says he has loved her since those days.
