Marcia Mae Jones
Biography
Marcia Mae Jones was an American actress whose career covered 57 years. The youngest of four children of actress Freda Jones, she was born in Los Angeles and made her first screen appearance at age two in Mannequin (1926). Early parts in Night Nurse (1931), King of Jazz (1930), and Street Scene (1931) led to child stardom in the 1930s with The Champ (1931) and The Little Princess (1939) and Heidi (1937), both opposite Shirley Temple. She also starred in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938) and These Three (1936). In 1940 she signed with Monogram Pictures to co-star with Jackie Moran in rustic romances, and after that series lapsed she moved into the studio's action-comedy films with Frankie Darro. Later credits included Arson, Inc. (1948) and Nine Girls (1944), and she guest starred on television programs such as Peyton Place and General Hospital. Her last major role came in The Way We Were (1973).
