Plot summary
When his aunt dies, Bryan Becket, an analytical lawyer, treats the loss as a routine event and assumes her mansion is now his. His partner Sully, visiting the house, has a seizure and warns him away from the closet behind the cross, then remembers nothing of it. Bryan moves in for a few weeks, and a chest topples by itself, a shrine stands hidden in that closet, and the rooms fill with noises and glimpses of a woman. He learns his aunt willed the house to an institute run by Dr. Koven that studies sleep disorders, and that one of its subjects, the psychic Cassie, works with psychic energy. He decides to contest the will, while his psychiatrist Dr. Shepard blames his visions on stress-induced insomnia.
