Plot summary
In 1871, Rance Roden sets a scheme in motion in Casper, Wyoming: wipe out the buffalo, let the Indians rise, and destroy the U.S. Cavalry, leaving the West open to him and his gang. A Boston magazine hears of the slaughter and sends assistant editor Kenneth Cabot west to look into it. Cabot gets the assignment while Moe, Larry and Curly-Joe are at his photographic studio, there for a picture of his pet skunk. In Casper, his skill with a gun wins him the post of town sheriff. The sharpshooter Annie Oakley, who has taken a liking to him, offers the visitors her protection from the town's notorious gunslingers, among them Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill Hickok and Jesse James.
