Trailer

Plot summary

Sally Lockhart is a young woman in Victorian England. Her father drowned in the South China Seas, and the message he sent just before he died carries a phrase she cannot explain: the seven blessings. Spoken aloud, those words strike a man dead with fear. Sally tries to learn what the phrase means, with help from Frederick Garland, a photographer, and Jim, a young assistant at her father's shipping firm. Assassins, opium dens and Chinese gangs cross her path. At the heart of it all is the Ruby of Agrapur, a priceless stone that Mrs. Holland also wants and is willing to kill to get.
