Sian Thomas

Siân Thomas is a British actress known for her stage work and for her television and film appearances, among them the part of Amelia Bones in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, her training came from the Central School of Speech and Drama, and in 1993 she played Aileen Armitage in the television film Wide-Eyed and Legless, also known as The Wedding Gift. She appeared in the West End production Up for Grabs in 2002 and played Lady Macbeth for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2004, drawing praise from the critic Michael Billington. Later stage work included Spring Awakening in London in 2009, the queen in National Theatre Wales's The Persians in 2010 and Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in 2011. From 2012 she played Atorloppe in the BBC series Merlin, and she has read poetry for BBC Radio 3's Words and Music as well as recording audiobooks.
