Plot summary
Mike Prentis, a middle-aged technical writer, does his job from home, where he lives with his wife Lisa. Jenna and her car-dealer husband Scott take the house next door, and Mike, with his days spent at home, gets to know Jenna. She tells him about her life with Scott, and the account she gives does not match the carefree picture Scott likes to present. While the young couple's relationship frays, Mike's own marriage comes apart. Lisa sees the pull Jenna has on her husband and withdraws, and Alex, Mike and Lisa's son, comes home from college and becomes Jenna's friend, which his father resents.
