Plot summary
In 1979 in Palermo, Fabbrizio Disguisey works as a Master of Disguise, a secret agent who masks himself as other people, and he breaks up a smuggling ring run by Devlin Bowman. Fabbrizio does not want that dangerous life for his infant son Pistachio, so he keeps the family calling hidden. Twenty-three years later, Fabbrizio and his wife run an Italian restaurant in an American town alongside their grown son, who waits on customers and imitates them without understanding why. Bowman, out of prison for three years, takes Fabbrizio and his wife and makes him gather legendary artifacts from around the world. Pistachio's grandfather then explains the family heritage and begins his training, with Jennifer Baker brought in to assist.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- A persistent rumor claimed Dana Carvey was filming in a full turtle costume during a moment of silence on the actual day of the September 11 attacks; director Perry Andelin Blake and Carvey later confirmed the tribute happened weeks afterward, since on September 11 itself the film was still in pre-production.
- The Master of Disguise's 1% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes made it the lowest-rated film Revolution Studios had produced up to that point.
- Roger Ebert pointed out that the movie's actual story runs only 65 minutes, and that 15 minutes of end-credit outtakes were added just so it would qualify as a feature-length film.
- To earn a PG certificate in Britain, censors made the studio cut seven seconds of the film, citing a 'dangerous imitable technique' involving a series of head butts.
