Plot summary
Lodac, a wizard, seizes Princess Helene and tells her father that in seven days his dragon will eat her. Sir Branton, one of the king's knights, offers to rescue her, though he is warned of seven curses that stand between the court and Lodac's castle. George, raised by the sorceress Sybil, loves Helene, but Sybil refuses to let him go, since her family fought Lodac and lost. George detains Sybil with the magic sword meant for him and rides off with a steed, invulnerable armor and six knights who had been turned to stone. He offers to join Branton, and the king pledges Helene's hand and half his kingdom to whoever saves her.
