Plot summary
After a bombing mission, Steve Holloway's plane goes down, killing his copilot, and he and three crewmen, Benny, Andy and Ed, drift in a liferaft for eight days before reaching an unknown island. Recovered at sea and given a serum that restores his speech, he recounts the story from a military hospital bed. The island holds prehistoric reptiles and a tribe of cavewomen descended from Druids, plagued by Neanderthal men who kidnap and mate with them. The Neanderthals have killed the tribe's men, and the newcomers are suspected of being in league with them.
