Plot summary
Chris Pratt was a high school hockey star until he drove at night with his lights off and hit a combine, killing two friends and leaving him with lasting memory problems. Four years later he and Kelly, his girlfriend in the crash, no longer speak. Chris attends cognitive therapy to relearn the sequence of everyday tasks and writes reminders in a small notebook, and he lives with Lewis, a blind friend who looks after him. His wealthy family supports him financially though they are emotionally distant. He works nights cleaning a small-town bank, where a deputy friend checks in on him; the manager turns down his request for a teller job. A gang planning to rob the bank has noticed him, and its leader, Gary, knew Chris in high school.
