Tinsel Korey

Canadian actress and singer-songwriter Tinsel Korey first found work in commercials before settling in Vancouver. Born in Toronto, she took a small part as a rape victim in the 2006 film Unnatural & Accidental, working opposite Callum Keith Rennie for director Carl Bessai, who later recalled how frightening the experience was for a young performer. She became known for playing Emily Young in The Twilight Saga series, including The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Korey also sang at the 2008 National Aboriginal Achievement Awards and appeared in a 2015 episode of Z Nation, a booking that Native American viewers criticized. Scholars have disputed her Native American identity: Natalie Wilson described her as East Indian and said she claimed to be Native American when cast in New Moon, while Léna Remy-Kovach called her Indo-Canadian and compared her to Iron Eyes Cody.
