Plot summary
More than a dozen people have disappeared and the cases remain open. Convicted killer Jim Gardener, in prison, offers to tell where the victims are in return for a live television interview. Detective Ellen Carnes, Senator Andrew Brady and Warden Bishop Wells agree to it. The interviewer is newsman Pierce Lawrence, whose reporting helped bring Gardener to justice. The senator among them is bereaved and the warden is skeptical of the deal. All three want the missing found and the files closed. Gardener, facing the man who helped convict him, has his own reasons for wanting the cameras in the room.
