Plot summary
David Boothe, a Chicago reporter, brings his wife Joan to a Las Vegas hotel while he covers an assignment at Boulder Dam. The casino owner, Horace Corrigan, stakes her with a few chips, and she tries the tables to fill the hours. She loses six hundred dollars of David's expense money and pawns a camera, then wins it back, and the excitement of the tables takes hold of her. Joan's sister Ruth Phillips joins them in Nevada, and David decides to leave. Corrigan, who has been flirting with Joan, asks her to play a poker game as his proxy, and she comes away with four thousand dollars and a share of the winnings.
