The Intruders (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

Rose Halshford, twenty, has suspended her studies at Stanford for a semester. Months after her mother Sophia died, she and her father Jerry, an architect, move to Chicago, where he hopes a change of scene will help her. Rose is uneasy in the century-old house from the first night. Leila Markby, who lives across the street, says the place may hide a dark history, and Leila's father Howard behaves strangely. Jerry has hired a craftsman, Noah Henry, for renovations, and Rose gets to know him while she looks into the house's earlier residents. A necklace and the head of a doll lead her to a woman called Rachel, and Noah remembers boards and a padlock over the window of Rose's room days before the family arrived. Jerry thinks grief is making his daughter imagine things.
