Plot summary
Elizabeth Welles and Mark Bennett married after eight years together, with their son Jacob as best man. Jacob was later killed in a car accident, and his parents divorced. Mark works as an attorney at a large firm and lives alone; Elizabeth has remarried, published a book, and shares a home with her stepdaughters. Tenants abandon the couple's former house, so Mark goes to inspect it and meets neighbor Amy and her son Dash. Lights flicker and footsteps sound in the empty rooms. Janice Trejada knocks, saying she is a psychic medium. Doors slam by themselves, and Mark telephones Elizabeth to say he plans to sell the house.
