Plot summary
Tara is a teenage girl who believes a curse runs in her family, passed down from her ancestor Lizzie Borden. The curse brings nightmares and murderous impulses, and those it touches see visions of Lizzie urging them to kill. Tara's parents seem strangely distant from her. Her one comfort is her hobby: she reworks old clothes, and her mother Emily sells the pieces online. When townspeople turn up murdered, the police look at Tara. Each victim had trouble with her, and the killer was seen in one of her dresses. Tara begins to doubt her own sanity and what her ancestry means for her.
