Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Infernal Trio follows the real case of Georges Sarret and the Schmidt sisters, who were tried and convicted in autumn 1933 at Aix-en-Provence, where Sarret was publicly guillotined on 10 April 1934.
SPOILER
The film departs from the real case: the real Catherine did not die as in the film, Magali was poisoned for not succumbing to tuberculosis quickly enough, and Sarret did not marry Philomena. The trio were instead arrested, tried and convicted, the sisters jailed and Sarret executed.
