Plot summary
Aboard a spacecraft bound for Earth, Dr. Kolos is told by the head of the Intergalactic Council to extend the galaxy's domination program by replacing people with android duplicates. Failure means his own destruction. He teleports into the mansion of Dr. Vaughan Dornheimer, where the blind Lisa Dornheimer, not knowing what he is, leads him to her uncle's laboratory. Dornheimer refuses to help; Kolos declares himself the master and says he will be obeyed. Elsewhere, electronics plants suffer a series of thefts, each committed by a trusted scientist on the staff. Dr. Munson tears a security door open, kills a guard, takes bullets in the back and drives off unmoved. Glenn Martin, an investigator for National Intelligence, is put on the case.
