Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It (2007)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • The animatronic monster, the Evil Thing, was designed by Gregory Nicotero and Howard Berger and built by Nicotero's company KNB FX, the same firm that did the effects for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and its two heads were each worked by a person.
  • Production of the film ran into a problem with child labor laws, which capped how many hours the children in the cast could work each day.
  • R. L. Stine was consulted on the script, but an earlier plan for a series based on the short stories in his book was dropped: the executive producers chose to film an original story, and Stine contributed what he thought should be added.
  • Writer Dan Angel said the rule for the script was no gore, no violence, no bad language, no sex and no one dies, yet you could still take the audience to a scary place and bring them back.
  • Filming in Pittsburgh was only possible with the local Steeltown Entertainment Project, which invested in the film and got a beginning credit; other Pittsburgh people are credited at the end, and over 100 local citizens took part in the production.
  • The film spawned the television spin-off R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour, which premiered on the Hub Network on October 29, 2010, told a different story in each episode, and was canceled on December 6, 2014.
