Plot summary
A reluctant killer, John has turned against his father, a powerful crime boss, and now his brother is chasing him. He heads north and hides in an isolated village, a small community that lives by a strict religious faith. There he grows close to Lea, a woman whose past is troubled, and he becomes a father figure to Caleb, her son. John and Lea both need to cut the ties that hold them to their earlier lives so they can begin again, and the events around them put his conscience to the test.
