Plot summary
Auna Rue is an aspiring actress with an unpopular YouTube channel. She moves in with her sister Lisa to attend Fellbrook High School, where Mr. Schlake teaches drama. Auna embarrasses herself in his class by performing a monologue poorly until a classmate, Cade Parker, helps her. A chat user named almostfamous99 sends her a link to a viral video of a teenage boy reading from The Gallows, a play said to be cursed. Auna obtains a copy from the school library, becomes obsessed with it, and films herself reading a passage. Viewers notice a table move on camera, and the clip's popularity grows, along with the attention of a malevolent spirit.
