Plot summary
Delivering high-risk packages is the freelance trade of Jonathan "Jon" Cold, a onetime deep cover operative. Alexander Marquet offers him an assignment: carry a parcel out of France for a rich man in Germany, and Cold accepts though he wants out of the trade. He and his colleague Dunoir travel to a farmhouse to collect it, where assassins set upon them. Cold drives the attackers off and carries on alone, with Dunoir staying in France. On the way he attends the memorial service for his father Jackson in Warsaw, Poland, and meets his brother Sean. In Germany plenty of others want to lay hands on the parcel first.
