Plot summary
In Haiti on his honeymoon, photographer Victor Fielding survives an earthquake that gravely injures his pregnant wife Sorenne, and paramedics tell him he must choose which of them to save. Thirteen years later he has lost his faith and is raising their daughter Angela alone in Georgia. After school one day, Angela and her Baptist best friend Katherine West slip into the woods to hold a séance, hoping to reach Angela's mother. A three-day manhunt follows before the girls are found in a barn, with burns on their feet and no memory of where they went. Back home, their behavior turns frightening, and their neighbor Ann Brooks, a nurse, comes to believe that Angela is possessed.
