Plot summary
In New York City, a supernatural horror movie called The Georgetown Project is in production, and Tom, one of its actors, dies on the set while playing a priest. Peter, the film's director, hires Anthony Miller, an aging performer with a drinking problem, to fill the part. Lee, Anthony's daughter, has been suspended from high school and works as his assistant; she and her father are both grieving the death of her mother. Anthony cuts himself, walks in his sleep and skips his medication, and Peter weighs replacing him. Lee befriends Blake, a popular television actress in the cast, and the two of them bring their worries about Anthony to Father Conor, a priest and psychiatrist who serves as a consultant on the movie.
