About the name
In 1993, David Hyde Pierce took Hyde as a middle name. He did this so that people would not mix him up with a different actor who was also called David Pierce.
Getting ready for a role
David Hyde Pierce asked not to be credited for playing Abe Sapien in Hellboy. He believed Doug Jones's performance, rather than his own voice, is what brought the character to life.
A change of course
While studying at Michael Howard Studios and pursuing an acting career in the 1980s and early 1990s, David Hyde Pierce worked as a security guard and sold ties at Bloomingdale's.
