Plot summary
Julie, a filmmaker in middle age, takes a taxi with her elderly mother Rosalind and the dog Louis to a large, secluded hotel where hardly anyone else seems to be staying. Along the way the driver tells them a ghost story. The building is Rosalind's childhood home; Julie's father died a couple of years ago, and she has come to be with her mother and hopes to make a film about her. Fog cloaks the place, and creaks, thumps and moaning wind disturb Julie's sleep. Rosalind speaks of painful events that happened in the house, and Julie weeps with regret. Rosalind says she is not to blame and that she remembers happy times there too.
