Plot summary
A monologue about a Superman storyline from DC Comics is delivered over a glass of whiskey and water, with parody-like sketches retelling the events. The speaker traces the character's influence on comic book superheroes and the slide in his popularity in the 1990s, when the publisher's executives concluded he had to die. From there he describes where Doomsday came from and the battles between the monster and Superman. Superman, Lois Lane, Doomsday, Batman, Robin and Nightwing are among the figures in the sketches, which also bring in a mad scientist and a man and a woman from the 1930s, and cameo appearances by a number of performers run through them.
