Plot summary
John Shepherd, once a cop in Spokane, Washington, now works as a private investigator in Los Angeles. He takes on the case of Isaac Teller, an aged diamond cutter who has gone missing, and he carries guilt from a kidnapping rescue that went wrong. Shepherd brings together the specialized SWAT team he once led to reach the cutter, held by a murderous thief. The case stretches from the Nazis to the Mob of the present day and into the Jewelry District.
