Plot summary
A remote island in the Pacific holds a group of Komodo dragons that an experiment has enlarged, and the reptiles break loose, killing most of the scientists working there. Rebecca Phipps survives, and her father Nathan is part of the program. A military team is dispatched against the creatures, and two soldiers, Hanson and Jason Blake, take shelter in Rebecca's house behind an electric gate. Nathan and his colleague Dawn Porter are sent to bring the survivors out. On an island in Hawaii, the criminals Drake, Reece and Tiffany rob a casino and escape by helicopter with their pilot Jack, and a storm forces them down.

- The film had its origins when Wynorski was shooting the film Treasure Hunt in Hawaii. He says he "took three of the actors to a secluded waterfall location on their day off and shot what would become the first segment" of the movie.
- Wynorski says the shoot turned out so well that he was asked to make a sequel, and that he agreed only on condition that he and the entire cast be sent to Hawaii to film it, "which they did".
- Once Wynorski returned to Los Angeles, Steve Latshaw wrote the entire script around the waterfall segment the director had already shot on location.
