Plot summary
Lawrence Powell, a psychiatrist, and the police detective Roy Harris are looking into the death of Stephanie Hancock, a college professor whose nightmares drew on the urban legends of Buckout Road. Both men take Hancock to have been mentally unstable. Cleo Harris, one of Hancock's students, has been preparing a class assignment about the Buckout Road myth, and she begins to display the same symptoms. Aaron Powell, the grandson of Lawrence Powell, has just come home from the Naval Postgraduate School. He and Cleo realize that they have to find a way to stop what is happening before it reaches them.
