Plot summary
On January 20, 1942, senior figures from the SS, the party and the ministries arrive at a villa on the Great Wannsee, southwest of Berlin. Reinhard Heydrich, who leads the Reich Security Main Office, has invited them to a meeting followed by breakfast. One subject is on the table: what the regime calls the Final Solution to the Jewish Question, the coordination of government branches behind the murder of eleven million Jews from across Europe. Adolf Eichmann keeps the minutes of the roughly ninety-minute session. The gathering does not begin the Shoah, but it aligns the departments of the state behind a single plan.
