Plot summary

Al Shines, once the king of the American stock-car circuit, has a hard time getting a racing team of his own going after his sponsor Robin Cates fires him. Cates hires Al's immature daughter Kylie, a young rising stock-car racer, in his place. Kylie Shines resents Al's inevitable absence as a widowed father, and she resents Kid Walker too, the reigning champion, who is equally young but professionally vetted. She sets out to prove herself against Kid, and the two carry on an on-off affair while Cates, through his marketing strategy, intends to manipulate Walker and the two Shines racers.
