Plot summary
A stagecoach robber known as the Carson City Kid is hunting the man who killed his brother. To track him through the gold towns, he holds up stagecoaches and reads the mail for letters that would say where the man is. He takes nothing, yet the hold-ups build the Kid's reputation. Laramie, an outlaw, travels with him. The Kid learns that the man he is after owns the saloon and gambling hall of a gold town, and, to gather evidence against him, he takes a job there as a shotgun guard. In the saloon he meets Joby Madison, a singer, and falls for her.
