Plot summary
John and Dean Solomon grew up at an isolated Arctic research station, schooled by their father Ed, and did not reach civilization until they were grown men. The brothers hold doctorates and followed Ed into geology, but they have no idea how to talk to women. When Ed falls into a coma, they decide that a grandchild is the shock that will wake him. Their first attempts go badly; John proposes marriage on a first date. Craigslist brings them Janine, a musician who wants $12,000 to carry the child, and her clingy ex-boyfriend James. The brothers move Ed into their apartment, where their neighbor Tara agrees to watch him, and John keeps trying to interest her. They have nine months to learn how to be parents.
