Plot summary
Phil Robertson and Kay Carroway fall in love and start a family in the backwoods swamps of 1960s Louisiana. Phil carries an addiction and the shame of his past into the marriage, and those demons press on the household and threaten to tear the couple's lives apart. He sets out to conquer that shame. The account follows the marriage and the growing family through the years up to 1985, long before the Robertsons' later fame, and it draws on moments in Phil's life that had not been made public before.
