Plot summary
Frank Valente is a widower whose grown daughter, Mary, looks after him and runs his house. Mary is engaged to Noble, but she holds off on the marriage because she worries about who would care for her father; she wants Noble to move into Frank's house, while he would rather buy a house near his business in Atlantic City. Rose Bianco, a florist widowed by a gangster, wants to marry Frank, and Mary refuses to accept her. Rose's son, Ralph, is at a work farm for troubled boys, and the plan is that Frank and Rose take custody of him once they wed.
