Plot summary
Dispatch may well have been the biggest band that never signed with a record label, and this documentary follows the group through their last days, at a moment when the music industry itself was in upheaval and the old assumptions about how records reached listeners were coming apart.
Their do it yourself approach had grown a grassroots following large enough to change the way independent bands, and labels, thought about the business. The final concert, The Last Dispatch, drew 110,000 people from every American state and twenty other countries to a single free show in Boston in July 2004, and that show is where the film ends up.
Helmut Schleppi directs for Sodium Entertainment. Band members Brad Corrigan, Pete Francis and Chad Urmston appear as themselves. Unrated, 81 minutes.
