Plot summary
The Minutemen came out of San Pedro, California: Mike Watt on bass, George Hurley on drums and D. Boon on guitar and vocals. Watt and Hurley look back over the band in new interviews, and other performers describe where it stood among Southern California's punk groups and what it contributed to music. Archival concert footage and old interviews show the three of them playing and talking. The title comes from a lyric in "The Politics of Time" and from a remark Watt made in a 1985 interview, when econo, local slang for economic, described the band's cheap record production, inexpensive touring and do-it-yourself approach.
