Plot summary
Lance Armstrong comes back to competitive cycling in 2009 after four years away, and a filmmaker begins a documentary about the return. Fresh doping allegations and the investigations that follow shelve the project. In 2012 Armstrong is barred from competition for life and loses his seven Tour de France titles. He admits to doping in a televised interview, and three hours later he gives the filmmaker a short interview, then sits with him again for a longer talk about his career. Alongside that testimony, the film draws on archive footage, among it Larry King Live, The Daily Show and a South Park episode, and on interviews with people from the sport.
