Through the Fire (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sebastian Telfair has been a familiar name on Brooklyn's basketball courts since he was nine. Now a senior at Abraham Lincoln High School, he leads the Railsplitters toward a third straight PSAL championship, and he carries a heavier question: whether to take a place at the University of Louisville or leave high school early for the NBA and move his family out of the Coney Island projects. His older brother, Jamel Thomas, was a star at Providence College five years before and expected to be drafted; no team took him, and he went overseas to play. Their mother, Erica, and the eight other children at home lean on Sebastian. His coach at Lincoln, a former champion there who never reached the pros, presses the team hard. Scouts, sneaker companies and the press all claim a share of him.
